STAFF BOOK LOCATION POLICY
If you choose to “always collect” your location in your setting, we will only use your live location on the Site or App. We don’t collect your live location unless you’ve specifically asked us to, unless you’re utilizing our services or the Site/App.
Staff book is aware that technological advancements in mapping and geolocation will provide solutions for some of the most local issues that customers currently face. Working with ecosystem partners who share the same ideals and investing in its own technology are two ways staff book is ensuring a world-class product experience for customers and partners alike.
Recently, Staff Book stated that its iOS app would either “Always” or “Never” need access to location information. We’re writing to clarify the changes Staff book made and their rationale for consumers given some of the confusion surrounding the change.
It’s critical to comprehend how smartphone location permissions function in context. On the two main smartphone platforms up until 2014— On iOS and Android, granting location access to an app meant that app always had access to the user’s location, regardless of whether the app was open or not.
Location data:
- Captains: When the Staff book App is open and visible on the user’s mobile device or when the app is not being used, Staff book collects location data. When the captains have turned on the “On-Duty” icon on the Staff book App, then and only then does Staff Book collect location data.
- Customers: If users give us permission, we can obtain precise or approximate location information from their mobile devices. From the moment a ride or delivery is requested until it is completed, as well as whenever the app is open on the user’s mobile device, Staff Book collects this information. We use this information to make your experience with our apps better, including by enhancing pick-up locations, enabling safety features, and detecting and preventing fraud. Even if the customer has not given us permission to collect location data
from their device, Staff Book still gathers the location data of the captains and links that data with the customer’s account. This makes it possible for us to provide our customers with services like receipt generation and customer support.
